Summer is definitely upon us,
the heat is unbearable and thunderstorms are in the forecast almost
everyday. As miserable as these conditions are for us they are
even worse for your car.
Intense
heat and sun destroys your paint by evaporating moisture from
the clearcoat. This heat also keeps the clearcoat soft and suceptible
to maring from anything that comes in contact with it.
You must
take preventative measures by waxing your car regularly and
keeping it clean. Washing your car after a rain storm is prudent
because rain in our area carries with it tiny pollutants that
breakdown your paints finish. Letting the hot sun bake these
pollutants into your cars finish is going to leave it spotty and dull
requiring the use of compound to make it shiny again.
Keep your
car on a regular waxing schedule as you would for changing the
oil. Your car should be waxed at least four times a year
because a good wax will only last about three months under daily
driving conditions. Don't beleive advertisements that tell you
their wax will last a year or more. This may be true if the car
is garaged, rarely driven and is never exposed to the elements.
In the
event you are going on a long trip with your car we recommend having
it waxed before. Adding a layer of wax to your paint will
protect it from dead bugs, bird droppings, sap, acid rain, salt
water or whatever else you may encounter on your trip. In
addition the wax will help reduce the need for heavy detergents and
scrubbing when you wash the car. If the paint is not smooth to
the touch then you should have the car clayed prior to washing.
The clay will remove the roughness from the paint and help the wax to
adhere to the finsish better.
Take advantage of our great waxing specials all summer
long and keep your car in prestine condition.
